Recital/Listening Lab Requirements

Upon admission to the music education program, majors will be required to attend a minimum of 40 recitals, concerts, opera and musical theater productions, and other performances programmed by the department to be eligible for graduation. They will also be required to attend 32 listening seminars.  A list of performances and listening seminars will be made available to students each semester.  Recital requirements will be prorated for transfer students.

Attendance: To receive credit for attending a performance, students must either sign the recital sheet at the event or if one is not available, bring a program to Dr. Maltz within one week of the event.  Students may not count recitals in which they perform.  Student Recitals will not count.  Other performances not listed below may count with prior approval from Dr. Maltz.  To receive credit for a listening lab, students must sign the attendance sheet provided.

 

Attending any event in bold print will count as 2 recital attendances (limited 1 per semester).

 

*See Juanita Palmer in the Etherredge Center Box Office for ushering opportunities.  Students may be able to attend these events free. 

 

**Students who volunteer to usher for Faculty Artist Recitals receive 2 credits.  Sign-up sheets will be posted outside Dr. Maltz’s office (Eth 122-A) two weeks prior to the recital.

 

All prices listed are student prices.  Check for program changes and arrange ticket purchases ahead of time.
