Biography

A former student of jazz legends Pat Martino and Jaco Pastorius, Mike Frost is a composer, studio musician, educator, recording engineer, and designer of Brickhouse speaker enclosures. He leads his own Mike Frost Band and has toured with Jesse Colin Young and with guitarist Esteban.  Mike Frost Band has released five albums, Inside Your Eyes (2015), Live at the Blue Horse (2011), Riddle Me This? (2011) Frosty Christmas (2012) and Live at the Red Pepper (2013).  Some more of Mike’s available recordings include Mike Frost: Inner Voice, Mike Frost: Tears of Joy, Karmic Tiempo’s Synergy, The Deep, Keith Hart’s It’s About Time, Ken Talve’s Across the Board, Jesse Colin Young’s Election Day, and Esteban: Live at Red Rocks.

Mike has recorded and performed with a long list of high-profile musicians including Donald Vega, Wycliffe Gordon, Jorma Kaukonen, Jesse Colin Young, Esteban, Jimmy Bruno, New York Voices, The Gypsy Kings, David Mann (Tower of Power), Manolo Badrena (Weather Report), Todd Turkisher (David Byrne, Ute Lemper), John Scarpulla (Tower of Power, Bruce Springsteen), John Miceli (Meatloaf), and George Cintron (Leslie West, Blue Oyster Cult).  Mike is well known for the unique quality of sound that he produces on his custom Clifford Roi four-string and six-string basses and his organic tone on fretless bass.  He is an authentic crossover musician with a deep melodic pocket and beautiful creative solo approach.
