Bachelor of Arts, Major in Fine Arts
The Bachelor of Arts with a major in Fine Arts is designed to prepare the student for success in a variety of professions in the visual and performing arts. The Department of Visual and Performing Arts is comprised of three primary areas: art (both studio and art history), music, and theatre (including dance). The degree has some specific requirements, but also offers a wide range of choices for the prospective major. There is a balance between the history or appreciation classes and the theory, performance or studio aspects.
The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Fine Arts is a multidisciplinary degree in that the student will take classes in each of the three primary areas, while at the same time he or she will have the ability to specialize in a specific field. This degree will prepare the student for future academic graduate work or for employment in a wide range of fields within the visual and performing arts.
